Happy Halloweekend

Halloween is here! We bought our costumes Sunday! T’s decorated our living room with Halloween lights and I surprised him with pumpkins a couple weeks ago. 

We didn’t want to carve the pumpkins this year–we’ve done it and it’s messy. Plus, we live in a high rise (so city, I know) so it’s not like we can put them on display. We therefore decided to paint them Thursday night. 

Last night I also took Tim out to dinner for his birthday to a steakhouse owned by a former NFL coach so he got to eat his favorite food while watching Thursday Night Football– win-win 🙂 

Happy Birthday to the love of my life and to my dad–funny how two of my favorite and most important men share a birthday!

#TBT: Halloween

I love holidays. Yes, my favorite is Christmas (as in I may or may not already have our Christmas pjs sitting in an online shopping cart) but Halloween is Tim’s favorite holiday. It comes as no surprise because it’s also his (and my dad’s!) birthday. So I try to make it extra special for him. 

When I started dating Tim I promised him I wouldn’t jump right into the Christmas spirit before Halloween. I rightfully let Halloween happen 🙂 It makes October more fun and it makes Christmastime more exciting, partly due to the anticipation. Besides, fall is a favorite season of mine and Halloween falls right in the middle of the season. In my opinion, it’s the reason for fall season. (I consider Thanksgiving to be a winter holiday.)   

The thing about long distance, though, is that you’re not always together for holidays–as in, we’ve never before been together on Halloween. 

Sure, we’ve dressed up and carved pumpkins in early October 2011 before he moved to Hawaii. 

I’ve sent him a festive care package when he was deployed. 


And we’ve even gone pumpkin picking and decorated the house together in Hawaii. 

But this year is thankfully different. We’ve gotten to go costume shopping (think tutus and blood for me) and paint pumpkins and we will be celebrating TOGETHER! They’re not done yet but here’s a preview:

Fall in love with your own journey

I haven’t done a Monday motivation post in a while. And then I read this quote last week and decided it needed to be shared:

So, I’m here to tell you to live your own life AND be happy with it because it is what you’re meant to be doing, where you’re meant to be, and with whom you’re meant to be.

Stop wishing to live someone else’s journey.

It’s hard to believe to believe there are just three –3!!!– (Wedding) Wednesdays between now and our wedding! The madness has ensued.

No, I haven’t posted every single Wedding Wednesday, or many, for that matter. That’s partly because work, wedding planning and living a life take up all my time. But it’s also because I want to keep a lot of it a surprise! What’s the fun in my guests knowing what the decor and such will be?

As for flowers, shoes, etc. I will be saving most, if not all, of that for post-wedding. I didn’t just come here to tease you all, though. Here are some amazing wedding shower photos taken by my best friendt Luana Maria Photography.
Note: she’s also the friend who reminded us we need VISAS to go to Brazil. Just imagine the panic that ensued when we gathered all of our materials Monday afternoon only to be told the Brazilian consulate was closed already. Thankfully, we were able to successfully submit our visa applications yesterday!

Last weekend was the bachelorette and wedding shower weekend. It was all amazing and I couldn’t ask for anything more. 

As a result of our honeyfund registry, our honeymoon is pretty much taken care of. We feel so loved. Oh, and I want to relive the weekend over and over–it was that amazing. I can only imagine what our wedding weekend will be like! T-31 days:)
