Our Save the Dates

When I got home last week while my family was visiting, some surprises were awaiting me. One of them was our save the date having been framed by my mama. My heart melted. The frame is gorgeous and once again I got a pang of “This is really real.” Three years ago when Tim received orders to Hawaii we didn’t know what our relationship would be like. And here we are — we’re gettin’ MARRIED!
This also made me realize that I have not yet shared our save the dates with you, the reason being I didn’t want to ruin the surprise if I have any readers who hadn’t yet received them. We’ve sent them 8 months in advance to give out of town guests time to save up for travel and the hotel block rooms.

Now that mostly everyone’s gotten theirs I can share away!

Choosing a design was more difficult than it probably should’ve been, which is a bit ironic because we took about 10 minutes to decide on our invites. I probably drafted 50 save the dates and finally, Tim and I both agreed on this design. My mom and some of my bridesmaids also helped us choose.

Gotta get through the Cold

Somehow this seemingly long winter is not bothering me. Perhaps it’s because we’ve had a few beautiful spring days recently. Or because the excitement of a new city hasn’t worn off yet. Or because I had an extended summer when I lived in Hawaii last year. Or because I just enjoy seasons. 
Whichever it is–or maybe it’s all of the above–I’m okay with it. I know that in true season fashion, spring will come and summer will inevitably follow. Change is fun and it’s exciting. It keeps me on my toes and it pushes me to savor every moment. To focus on the good. And to plan ahead for the future. 
I guess what I’m getting at is that life has seasons, just as the weather does. And just because our least favorite one might seem long doesn’t necessarily mean our view has to be negative. Life doesn’t have to be bad or blah or whatever. 
I choose to be grateful for all of it — snow or sunshine. Maybe we all should .. .And then perhaps Mother Nature will give us true spring 😉

Begin-ning

Happy Begin-ning of the (work)week!
start small.We set goals in all aspects of life. 
 
“I want to lose five pounds.”
“I have to stop comparing myself to others.”
 “I am going to start working out more.”
“I need to be a better listener.”
 
While it’s all good and dandy to set goals, we must actually work to achieve them. Sometimes, the first step is the hardest. But it’s important to keep in mind that until we do so, nothing will change.

Yesterday, I started the week off with a workout and then WALKED up to my roof  on the 20th floor. Because taking an elevator after exercising felt lazy. And because my body won’t maintain and/or change itself. I’ve got to eat well AND exercise. 

The views were rewarding.

I Fancy Friday

I kind of think this week flew by. But part of me knows it’s because I’ve been on meds since Tuesday trying to kick this horrid sinus infection. 
Thankfully, I think I’ve avoided an ear infection but it was a close call. This makes me happier than you’d know because when I was younger  said ear infections included temporary hearing loss and bleeding — yes, from my ear. Yikes! 
Enough of my that, though– because I’m ecstatic it’s officially Friday AND it’s Spring!!
Oh and yesterday was also National Proposal Day (I didn’t know that was a day either until SMP posted about it)! 
I’m looking forward to so much this spring:
— a visit from my best friends/ bridesmaids!!!
— warmer weather here in Chitown 
— bright colored tops like the one below to make my dark-colored suits pop a bit
— a possible visit back home 
— longer days … I’m a lover of sunshine.

Chi-rish

I had family visiting since last Wednesday. It was great and I miss them already. On Saturday, we went to see the Chicago River dyed green. Pretty neat if you ask me. There are very few things I do not like about Chicago — the reason being everything it has to offer. My family loves it here and it makes me happy knowing they think I’ve made a great choice. 
As luck of the Chi-rish would have it — I went shopping on Sunday with my aunt. Thanks to her great coupons, I was able to get over $600 worth of REGULAR priced items for $233. Happy wallet and wardrobe for the win!
