*Supporting breast cancer has been a cause that is near and dear to our hearts. By linking up your blogs with survivor stories, breast cancer facts, stories of how you support the cause, donation pages, letters to a loved one loss to breast cancer could help spread awareness. It’s def OK if you don’t have any breast cancer stories or facts, all we ask is for you to link up your blog, and hop around you might find some interesting breast cancer info that way 🙂

Here’s a little stat for you if you haven’t been able to read or research…1 out of 8 women have a chance of being diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. That’s a real fact! If you have a family history of cancer, you should schedule an appointment every year to check for bumps. As well as always checking yourself at least once a month at home.

Home is {Every}Where My Heart is

When my plane landed in NY last week, I just didn’t feel like I’d arrived home. I felt more like a visitor. Was it because I’d been away for a bit? Because I was living on my own with Timmy and we’d developed our own routine and such? Or because I was apart from Timmy for the first time in a while? Would it just take time to adjust to being back here?

Those were all questions I had. And then I remembered this quote and I think it explains my feelings pretty spot on:

While I felt more “at home” after waking up in my bed, I think I didn’t feel as at home when I arrived here because my life is in a different place now. I just spent two months living with the love of my life. And I’m pretty focused on getting everything together for my Chicago move. In a way, I am kind of visiting NY to get myself sorted and spend as much time with loved ones as possible.

Just because I don’t feel completely at home here anymore doesn’t mean I missed or love my family, friends, my house or NYC any less, though. Maybe these feelings are just a part of my growing up and moving on process. Maybe it’ll be easier to leave my hometown this way and, as such, the feelings are a blessing in disguise.

Or maybe — just maybe — my heart’s in too many places now to feel grounded only here anymore, and each place my heart is in is my home.

30 Hours of Travels + Sunshine on a Rainy Day

Aloha Friday! Between my not-as-aloha Wednesday and Thursday, I unfortunately had to leave Timmy and Hawaii 🙁

And I endured 30 hours of traveling… which included 4 flights and a day trip to Chicago for work purposes. That makes for a VERY exhausted me.

The weather in Chicago was gloomy while I was there but I still loved being in my soon-to-be new city of residence. It was the peak during my travels. I think it’s going to be a great adventure.

No worries about rainy weather in this space, though, because I’ve got sunshine on my blog today:) I’m way overdue in posting my Sunshine Award questionnaire. I’d seen it around Blogland recently so I was excited to have been nominated for one by the lovely Rachel from The Professional Army Life! I think these awards are a fun blog activity so I was excited to participate 🙂

Rachel’s Questions:

1. What did you have for lunch today?
A yummy grilled chicken pita. My dinner of a pepperoni pretzel and sour gummy worms were also yummy..

2. Since we’re on the subject of food, what’s your favorite meal?

White rice, red beans, chicken cutlets & avocado. I’m a simple gal.

3. Name the most unusual item in your purse right now.
I currently have a massive amount of things in my bag, the most unusual of which are probably stamps from a Post Office errand run a few weeks ago, or toothpaste and a toothbrush used to brush my teeth this morning.

4. Tell me something you are looking forward to the most in the next week.

Catching up with family and friends!

5. How about the next couple months?

Moving to Chicago, getting sworn in, {fingers crossed} Vegas with my loves & starting my big girl job!

6. Where did you go on your last vacation?

Does my recent extended stay in Hawaii count? 😉

7. What are your favorite pair of shoes? Can you share a picture too?

8. What do you love the most about Fall? If not, what do you dislike?
I love Fall! I love the cooler weather … sweaters, scarves, boots, Halloween, of course Timmy’s and my dad’s birthdays, and that it’s almost Christmastime (my favorite time of year)!

9. Who is your celebrity doppelganger?

I’ve been called each of the following: Tapanga from Boy Meets World, Selena Gomez & Selena, the late Latina singer.

10. If you found a genie in a bottle, what would be your three wishes?

Well these would have to be “fake” wishes because if I tell my wishes, they won’t come true right?;) 1) World peace 2) Lifelong health and happiness for myself and my loved ones 3) That eating chocolate would actually burn calories 🙂
