Starstruck + Friend-Filled Weekend

So this celebrity siting happened while dining at Kona Brewing Company last night. 

That is Rachel McAdams and Bradley Cooper. Swoon! My friend and I didn’t want to bombard them as soon as we found out they were there and they left before we got the chance to ask for a photo. Honestly, seeing them was more than enough for me! 


As for that friend – we’ve reconnected after being out of touch for some time. She is my sorority little and we were attached at the hip for a period at school. Then life got weird and crazy but we’ve always tried to reach out to one another. Finally, after seeing she lived here and I’d be visiting for an extended amount of time, we decided to get together. It’s been a blast catching up –in person– again. She is hands down one of THE sweetest people I’ve ever known and I’m so glad to be back in each other’s lives. Happy Jackie is happy about that.
Happy me in my “hippie” outfit last night, according to Timmy. My friend and Timmy actually met last night and it was constant laughter and good times from the start — well after we sat for dinner following her car unfortunately getting hit by another car in the parking lot. We came to the conclusion that last night was a night of events that would happen while the 2 of us were together haha. I’m just glad that she was okay and the night turned around to be such a good one. 

This weekend we also hung out with other friends, including a couple I’ve mentioned before, the girlfriend of which I know from home. It was a blast hanging with them again. We went to Makapu’u Beach so the guys could get their allotment of waves and we girls could tan after the waves kicked our butts. 
Later that day (Saturday), we also went to a BBQ get together and out in Waikiki for another’s birthdays. 
I love this candid of us from Saturday night. It’s always a blast when we’re together. I was actually voluntarily DD and had so much more fun than I think I’ve ever had while out sober, proving that I don’t need alcohol to have fun – duh, I know 🙂

On Friday, I had the car so I did laundry on base and then T told me he’d be able to meet up for dinner — and go home afterwards! That made my WEEK! We went home and watched a movie and relaxed. Downtime with T is always a favorite of mine and it was the perfect start to what would be a pretty busy next couple of days.

…I just realized I wrote this post in reverse chronological (by day) order. I think that was a first but hey, there’s a first for everything, right?

I’m finding the time again to do a lot of these things here in Hawaii and I’m loving life in the process. 
 
 
P.S. I might be in the minority of iOS users, but I LOVE iOS 7. It’s like I have a brand new phone! I love my wallpaper, too 🙂

Nutellove

The other day while grocery shopping I had the urge to buy something. But I had to fight the urge. 
 
Nutella. 
 
Operation Save the Nutella 
 
Many people like it. I love it. And people know it. That’s why Tim’s step-mom once gifted me with a jar of it. Embarrassing? Maybe to some. I find it funnier than anything. Here are some reasons why I love it so much (and don’t buy it because I’ll eat a jar a day):
 
1. It’s hard to resist.

I’m not kidding. I once asked my college roommate to hide my jar from me. Only to call her a few hours later begging to find out where she hid it. (She gave in, in case you were wondering.) But it shouldn’t be placed in the fridge because then it’ll harden. And then you’ll have to go to lengths to soak it in warm water to defrost it so you can eat it (see photo above). 

2. It’s finger lickin’ good.

So finger lickin’ good that I actually sometimes don’t have the patience to look for a spoon so I eat it with my fingers … and then lick my fingers. Gross, maybe. But if eating Nutella is gross, I don’t want to be not gross. 
 
3. It goes with almost anything.
Pretzels. Crepes. Strawberries. Crackers. Bananas. Corn flakes – instead of milk, yep I’ve done it… You get the point.
 
So there you have it. You now can add Nutella to the list of unhealthy foods I love too much. What is your biggest guilty pleasure?
 
 

Forgiveness

I’d had this post planned for quite some time and then I saw this CNN headline yesterday. 
 May they all rest in peace and may there one day soon be an end to gun violence in this country.
The headline words ring so very true. Although not the easiest thing, forgiveness is essential in order to heal.
But I think it’s quite normal to struggle with forgiveness, no matter the situation. There are most likely the feelings of anger and sadness over what has transpired. But even worse, in my opinion, is the feeling of hurt due to being let down by someone whom you trusted very much. By someone you’d never in a million years think you’d choose to live without. Once you realize that is actually the situation, though, you then have to go through the motions of accepting it. 
And then you just want to move on. 
To move on, however, there must be one thing: forgiveness. If not for the person, then for yourself and your well-being. Dwelling on the bad or wrong only hurts more. As for me, I have trusted a bit too easily. I always try to see the good. And so, although forgiveness is still a challenge, I try to forgive rather easily too. Perhaps not as much for the other person as for myself (as admittedly selfish as that may sound — regardless, I let go of the ugly feelings toward the person I am forgiving so I suppose that is a more selfless aspect). And for my faith that God has a purpose for everything that happens.  
I never forget, though — I don’t think anyone does. That is pretty impossible.

Lately Loving

My newfound enjoyment of cooking. Here’s last night’s dinner – honey mustard chicken with onions, tomatoes and mushrooms, on top of homemade mashed potatoes.
Tim’s humor. So glad I get to joke around with my best friend for the rest of time.
This. Here’s to living a happy life NOW.
Something I didn’t really love was tonight’s (HST) blackout, which began while Tim was at work. The power company is outside (unsuccessfully) trying to get our electricity back on. It’s my first blackout alone so I do feel like this is some sort of accomplishment… I’m always searching for the positives – you know me 🙂
Plus T’s humor (ftw!) helped lighten my mood.
