A little online shopping & …Amanda Bynes, is that really you?!

I spent this weekend studying so I didn’t step outside much… Admittedly, though, I did use quite some procrastination time: 1) Online shopping, which by the way is a FAVORITE ~~procrastination~~ activity of mine. These two beauties are now mine – at great prices, too. Win-win if you ask me!

2) Browsing Amanda Bynes’ twitter. I first came across it when news of her now-infamous tweet to Drake broke and probably spend too much time on it now, hoping that it’s either(A) an imposter account (which I’m sure Twitter is hoping too, since it hasn’t verified her account yet) or (B) that she is faking her meltdown because, my gosh, it is almost too much to handle.. She used to be so cute

and then beautiful

and always entertaining

And while I find “her” and “her” twitter to still be extremely entertaining

I can’t help but think that the girl needs serious help.

Happy Friday! I’ve successfully completed 4 days of paleo so far, which means today is day 5!

It hasn’t been easy, especially with all of the chocolate and pizza in the house but I’ve been strong. I’m always up for a challenge. Plus, it’s much easier doing it with someone else because it kinda keeps me accountable. Beginning today, I’m also getting my workout routine going again!

Not Quite There Yet

When one of my best friends posted this on my facebook wall last night, it literally spoke volumes to me. And made me smile and feel so great that others share this sentiment with me and that it’s not the end of the world (sorry for my excitement-induced run-ons…).

Back in October I wrote a post labeled “Perspective” that touched on how “I’m Not Quite There Yet” and how that is more than okay. After seeing the above picture and with graduation approaching, it’s very fitting. Please note these are my thoughts specific to my life. I admire each and every one of you who have made the best decisions for yourselves 🙂 Here’s an excerpt of the post with some updates/edits:

“Sometimes when I think about how old, or young, I am, I feel like I should be married, buying a house and maybe have, or planning to have, kids by now. Yet here I am still in school and without a job – or even an engagement. But then I stop and think. Really think. Let’s take this week – I had my last law school class (EVER!) because I am graduating with my Juris Doctor this month! I’ve went on many an interview for a full-time attorney job. I have applied to jobs all over the country... someone’s bound to hire me, right? I’ve been lucky enough to travel 3 times (Chicago, Hawaii & NC) this year already and have at least 2 more trips (Hawaii and Vegas!) in the works, and I have a family, partner and friends who support me in all that I do.

Would I have been able to do this all if I was married to T and potentially a mother? Possibly. But during these years it would have been very difficult, if not impossible.

Ultimately, I am very happy with my decisions and the way my life has panned out thus far. Sure, I may not be getting married at 25 and having kids at 26 like I had hoped when I was a little girl BUT I’ve been blessed nonetheless every step of the way. God willing, I will be a successful attorney, and marriage and kiddos will follow – when the time is right. And yes, maybe my career plans will change as life happens, but it’ll be because it’s for the best and that bridge will be crossed when need be. Right now, though, these are my dreams and if I’m not reaching for them now, then when? I will be the first person in my family to cross the stage at a graduate school graduation ceremony, just as I was the first to do so at a college graduation ceremony. I will be the first attorney in my family. And all of this makes me feel so empowered at the age of 24.75 and more than okay that my life isn’t turning out exactly how I planned… because, in many ways, it is actually turning out better.”

For me, this month will mark lots of happies:

Warmer weather… hello beautiful NYC days. Last month of law school. Ever. Graduation! Anddd saying hello to Timmy again 🙂 …Which leads to me an amazing Thought Catalog article I read recently that I, and probably many of you, could relate to very much. My explanation wouldn’t do it justice so I’ll leave you with excerpts: “We’ve said goodbye in driveways, bus stations, and airports, in parking lots and on street corners. Long distance relationships mean always having to say goodbye”

One of our first goodbyes @ Greyhound in Norfolk, VA, April 2011 “There are a lot of stigmas and fears around long distance relationships and I suppose it’s not for everyone. But it has its perks, too. Every time I see her again after we’ve been apart, it’s like that first time I went back to visit her: all of the old emotions come rushing back. It’s like waking up to the first spring day after a long, cold winter. We’ve said hello in driveways, bus stations, and airports, in parking lots and on street corners. Long distance relationships mean always getting to say hello.”

Our latest hello @ Honolulu Airport, March 2013 Cheers to getting to say hello to my best friend in a few weeks! As the article says, the opportunity to constantly do so and the feelings that come along with it are definitely big perks of long distance.

Where I Find Myself

The premise of my blog is about me trying to find myself i.e. my purpose and when to settle where… Despite not knowing these things just yet (AKA I’m stressed and suffering from a “quarter life crisis” lately) I am still myself and I am not “lost.” If ever I do feel it though, as temporary as the feeling may be, I find myself in:
– Faith, family and friendsI’ve put these 3 together because they comprise my support system. I am not as close to God as I hope to one day be but my faith in him does not waver. He has never let me down. I am a firm believer that He has a plan for me and my life will work out accordingly; “whatever’s meant to be will be.” I also don’t know where I would ever be without the support system that are my amazing family and friends. They are my biggest cheerleaders – and sometimes critics, but that’s okay – and they’ve helped me in ways they’ll never even know.

– LoveFor whatever it’s worth, I am a lover. If I am feeling stressed or overwhelmed, I focus on the love in my life. Really, if there’s any negative feeling, I do this. It helps because it allows me to focus on the big picture in life. I am a firm believer that as long as I have love, I will be more than okay. Although Timmy fits in to the previous category, as well, this is where he fits more. He’ll never truly know how the unwavering love we share helps me.

Yes, this is a Christmas picture. I love Christmas all year round 🙂 – Positivity

– TravelingI’ve lived in and visited many a city. I’ve made acquaintances and friends across the world. Sometimes I feel the most myself when I am somewhere I’d never been before with people I’d never known.

Arashi Beach, Aruba – LearningI’ve been in school since I was 4 years old. Before that, my mom home-schooled me for Pre-K. I am about to graduate law school in a few short weeks and I already thinking about how I will continue learning. Of course, life provides the most valuable lessons and I will learn new things at work everyday. Knowing this helps my fear of being without institutionalized learning subside.
