Happy ~9008th Birthday to Me!

This past weekend I was away in Greensboro, NC for a school competition. On Saturday, my teammates and I walked around the many vintage shops that were downtown. I came across this birthday card in one of the shops and instantly fell in love with the first part of the cover words:
 
“When people asked how old she was, she would say 1009365, more or less, 
because she was so glad to be alive that she counted every day a birthday.”
 
So today, I celebrate my 9008th birthday, more or less, because I too am happy to be alive every. single. day. Rain or shine. Happy or sad. Calm or stressed. Life is so wonderful and I thank God everyday for it. Sure, some days might be harder or less pleasant than others but that doesn’t take any of life’s beauty away – it actually helps to contribute to it and make the good days all the better. 
 
This card reminded me that every day is a beautiful gift and that we should all live day by day. I myself am guilty of looking forward to the future – after all, I am constantly counting down to when I’ll be reunited with Tim again – so this was a great reminder to be grateful for my “everydays.”

I’ve Met My Match

Today, I’m linking up with {long distance loving} Friday’s Fancies to discuss my and Tim’s (usually) common fashion sense.

I’d say Tim’s style is pretty good and we like each other’s style of clothing for the most part. Except when I look like a “hippy” or when he wants to pair plaids with stripes or colors that do not match at all. In the past he’s gotten annoyed at me because I point out that those items of clothing should not be made into an outfit.

Now, however, he just tells me to pick out his outfit if we’re going out to dinner or somewhere fancy, telling me to pick whatever clothing of his that matches my outfit. For the most part, though, if we’re just having a laid back day, he picks his outfit like the adult he is 🙂 Ironically, we wind up matching so. many. times. I joke that he tries to match me but I really think it’s just coincidence. Either way, I’ve come to realize that we’ve grown to be two peas in a closet pod.

Does this make us dorks or a fashionista (ha Tim would laugh at being called that) couple? I’d like to think the latter 😉

To facebook, or not to facebook?

Every time I go to post a status, I pause. Because I could instead just tweet my thoughts – but Twitter is a whole other beast to me and I’m not in love with it, either… Or I could just not post anything. To any social media outlet. I can either express my thought to a human directly or keep it to myself.
This is the struggle I have with social media nowadays – except Instagram, which has become my newfound obsession. Do people really care that I am suffering from jet lag?! That I have 12-hour days sometimes? That I had to run to the bus one morning? More than likely not. Do they care that I am head over heels in loooove with my boyfriend? That I graduate soon? Maybe some but definitely not the majority. So why do we/I feel the need to constantly keep others in the loop? (I guess the same could be said for blogging but to me, this serves a much different purpose as an outlet of expression.) I don’t know but despite not knowing and feeling like facebook has definitely lost its value to me, I still can’t get myself to quit it. Does that make me dependent?????? Probably. Here’s to hoping that one day I can take the plunge and deactivate it for good. Or just come to accept it as the addicting social network that it is.

Now excuse me while I update my status … Whoops!
