Army Wives Season Premiere!

My Sunday nights are about to get 100x better. My favorite t.v. show is returning! Now don’t go thinking I’m this “ultimate” military girlfriend who only watches the show because T is serving. I’ve watched the show with my mom since the very beginning and I think that’s partly what makes it my favorite – it’s been able to keep my attention for so long, unlike very many other current t.v. shows.

Now for some fun facts regarding my favorites of the show –
My favorite Army wife: 
Claudia Joy. She’s been through a lot and seems like the wisest one.

My favorite families (I can’t pick only one!):
The Holdens – The dad is a general so he’s away a lot, one of the daughter’s was killed, and the mom has diabetes but they’re still a strong family.

The Burtons – The mom is a colonel and I think it is important to portray a family whose mom/wife is the one serving. The dad is a therapist and the kids are young so it’s a fun and interesting dynamic to watch.

The LeBlancs – Sadly they are gone from the show 🙁 but they were a young couple with little kids and reminded me more of the younger couples I know in the military than any of the other couples.

My favorite quote:
“What is it about the human touch, holding a loved one close and feeling their warmth, their heartbeat? I mean … frequently our loved ones are far away. But their warmth doesn’t have to be.”
As you can tell, I absolutely love this show haha. I know it catches some gripe, and understandably so, from some military wives because it is not 100% realistic. I wouldn’t really know because T and I are not married and are long distance so our relationship is much different than a marriage and/or living on or near base together. And even though I watch it for entertainment, the military tidbits are more relevant in my life now than when I was a 21-yr-old binge drinking college student.

1. I like to smell food before tasting it for the first time.

1. What is your dream home? Wrap around porch, fence (not too tall) around home, big backyard, master bedroom w/ master bathroom, office, playroom, basement if possible … I dream big, obviously.
2. What is your favorite song and why? Hmm it’s been “I Will Always Love You” for as long as I can remember because I just love Whitney Houston’s voice in the song.
3. Who is your celebrity design alter ego? HGTV’s Property Brothers … I would love to be to find a fixer upper and make it my dream home!
4. What is your favorite blog post you have ever done and why? The significance of my blog name because it says a lot about me. You can read the post here.
5. What are 3 of your favorite blogs and why do you love them? I discussed this earlier this week but they are: Becoming a Navy Wife, The Adventures of Our Army Life & Lounging with Lindsey because they are all so sweet and have made my (quite new) blogging experience so great.
6. How long have you been blogging and why did you start? I started blogging last July but from then until Dec 2012, I only blogged 4x and then started up again this year. I started when Timmy was deployed and I decided to actually blog for real this year because I wanted to write and express myself more while connecting with ladies in my age group (I find it harder to find that on tumblr) who can relate to me. 🙂
7. “I’ll ———– if it’s the last thing I do”.  Go on adventure with the ones I love.
8. Best vintage or decor find of all time? Decor find: personalize-able photo coasters for Timmy’s apartment to put photos of us in. You can see them here.
9. What is a home trend that you have tried/followed that you’ve regretted? I can’t think of anything … perhaps leaving old flowers to hang and they stunk up my room.
10. Who is your favorite author? Jodi Picoult

Honor Courage Commitment

 On Wednesday, I was listening to Pandora Radio, “Today’s Country” radio station of course,  when I saw an ad of special interest pop up. It was an offer for free 30-day trial of different Daily Burn online workouts. Lo and behold, yoga is one of the available workouts. I got very excited because, as you know, my neck issues are preventing me from doing intense workouts. I’m really hoping this provides a good workout! I also plan on doing Insanity’s Cardio Recovery just to keep my body moving. . . not that running around in NYC everyday doesn’t do that!

It’s Okay … I’ve Got a Crush On You!

I’ve learned that it’s okay to put your feelings out there for people whom you do not know to read about. It really helps to vent. And it’s been wonderful connecting with women that I probably never would have met if it wasn’t for blogging.
