… House of Cards’ and Ant Man’s Corey Stoll casually congratulated Tim and me on our pregnancy last Friday. He just so happens to be the neighbor of a family friend we stopped by to visit here in Brooklyn.

… The weather has warmed up. And by that I mean the mornings start off in the 40s versus 20s and 30s.

… Childbirth class went so well. Mr. L got a (the only) gold star among partners/coaches last night. He’s such a keeper and I’m so lucky.

… My round ligament pain hurt really bad this week. But like I say–I’ll take the pain and as long as Baby L is a-okay, I’ll be fine. I’m also taking my one-hour glucose challenge test this morning. Prayers I pass!

April Freeze

Remember when I was gushing about the 70-something degree weather in NYC? Well, that weather has come and gone. It has been pretty brisk around these parts, reminding us New Yorkers that the weather here is completely unpredictable. (At least we didn’t see the snow that Chicago and Boston got. #alwayslookingonthebrightsideoflife)

No matter the chilly temperature or wind, I’m the kind of girl who appreciates a sunny day. Of course, 70 degree weather is better but I take what I can get. The tricky thing with these freezing temperatures is that none of my winter coats fit anymore…so I’m currently wearing one of my mom’s.

In more exciting news, our childbirth classes begin tonight. I’m both intrigued and nervous to see what we’ll learning about. I will keep you all posted!

Another First

Monday, we meet again… This weekend was pretty relaxing. We went to our final second trimester ultrasound and we (finally) did our taxes. It’s almost hard to believe my due date is in just 90 days!

I’ve already started to wonder what kind of mom I will be. Will I be super passive? Will I lose my temper more than I’d care to admit? Will I cry due to stress and lack of sleep? Will I be overprotective? Will I post countless photos of our baby online or hide him from social media altogether?

The answer to almost all of those is I don’t know. While I don’t plan on over-posting our baby’s face around the internet or being impatient, I’m going to be new to the “mommyhood.” I’ve never been a mom before so, admittedly, I don’t know a whole lot. I hear that’s what it’s like for most first-time parents, though.

Many people tell me it’s instinctual and that it’ll all come to me naturally. And while I hope that’s the case, it’s sort of scary not knowing what the experience will be like. It’s another first for me, and firsts can be scary. It’s scary thinking I might mess some things up. That I’ll be constantly learning. I honestly would love to be the perfect parent to our little one but I know that’s not humanly possible.

What I do know is I will love him endlessly and try to be the best mom I can be for him every single day.

…Not understand the strong bond between a mom-to-be and her unborn baby until I became pregnant.

…Tell myself there was no way I’d move back home with my parents after moving out because it seemed like a step backwards.

…Believe I would be a super fit pregnant woman because running and paleo had once been my go-tos but alas, here I am ~ 25 pounds later with three months to go.

…Convince myself I had to make six figures before getting pregnant and then I realized you can think you’ve planned your life perfectly and something could still go wrong so why keep waiting for something I’ve wanted all my life?

…Not be able to forgive as well as I do now and it’s freeing.

…”Overpost” about our wedding planning and then our wedding–now the wedding seems so long ago and I’m more excited about our baby than I’ve ever been about anything.

…Live for tomorrow, for when I’d see Tim again and then we he moved in with me, for when I’d see my family and friends next. These days I am happily living in the present.
