I’ve been pondereding on my time living alone since Tim moved in and I gained a lifelong roommate. I haven’t blogged about it much before for safety concerns. But for the past 8 months I was my own roommate. And was great! Sometimes weird, like I’m-eating-flaming hot Cheetos-for-dinner-because-I-can weird. And at times lonely, but usually only on Sunday evenings when everyone I know is with family.
Ultimately, it’s an experience I think every 20-something-year-old should have before settling down. I know I’ll never have the opportunity again and I know I’ll miss it at times so I’m glad I was able to do it.
If I had any suggestions, I’d tell you to live alone. Learn to be okay with solitary time. How to keep yourself busy. How your time is best used. Pay your own bills–and on time!– AKA the truest test of adulthood. Figure out how to budget (wisely). Be responsible for the upkeep of your living environment. Learn to cook, or at least survive.
Now that that’s over with, I’m looking so forward to this new chapter with Tim. Words can’t express how excited and happy I am to have him with me as opposed to through a computer screen!
