A Yearlong Engagement

When we first got engaged Tim wanted a two-year engagement. I, however, was steadfast in my desire to have a year-long engagement, give or take. He wasn’t too excited about this “short” timeline but agreed anyway. 

Good thing he did! Because just recently, we were discussing how we wished we were getting married a month SOONER in October. No biggie, I know but funny how he’s come around–and then some. 

Really, though, Tim doesn’t want to hear about wedding planning details for longer than necessary… And I’m right with him so I’m happy we’ll be engaged for just a year. In my opinion, it’s still a pretty good amount of time and if I had to do it over, I would keep our engagement the same, if not slightly shorter. 

I know it’s not logistically or financially possible for some but if it is, I encourage you to do the same. It’s enough time to plan and be excited and still have all the typical celebrations (bachelor[ette] parties and wedding showers). 

…And it leaves you less anxious/antsy (unless you’re a worrier) because you know your day is fast approaching from the onset! 🙂

Can’t forget about the Groom and his men!

On Friday here in blogland we talk about favorites Amiright? So today I’m talking about what’s been a favorite of mine (our upcoming nuptials) and where we’re at (in the planning process). 
Today makes just 100 days until the big day!! 

Weddings are often said to be the bride’s big day. But Tim and I have always wanted him to be as in involved in the planning as possible. And for the most part, he really enjoys it and is excited about it all. His enthusiasm really makes the whole process so much less stressful and more fun! 
I won’t be sharing the tuxes since I’d like to keep them a surprise just like my and my bridesmaids’ dresses are but I can say this guy and his groomsmen are going to looks great in their Vera Wang ensembles!

This was just another detail we got to decide on together and I’m so happy we were able to. We kind of celebrated afterward with sushi dinner and a movie — Guardians of the Galaxy, which was actually GREAT. 


Earlier in the weekend, we looked at bands again. I’m now torn between this eternity band that I really like and the much more expensive matching band to my engagement ring. This whole choosing processing has been harder than I though it’d be…. But alas, I’ll be deciding soon. 

The Honeymoon Hunt is OVER! (For real)

Today marks four months til our big day! That mean there are just four months and one day until we’re off to our honeymoon!
If you’ve followed along for a bit, you know we’ve changed our honeymoon from Bora Bora to Mexico. 
Yes, we were still choosing a honeymoon destination on June 26. How could that be if we’d already agreed on Mexico?? Well…
….We might have changed our honeymoon destination AGAIN. (We did!)
…We might now be going to South America. (We are!)
…And we might not be able to wait til November. (We can’t! But we have to, shucks!)

So, beachy Brazil it is! Rio de Janiero and Buzios, Brazil to be precise!

So now those will be our destinations and views, and to say we are excited is an understatement. I’m so happy to be as excited as I was for Bora Bora, which I just wasn’t for Mexico. You see, Mexico looked BEAUTIFUL but it is close, I’ve been before, and we can easily go for just a long weekend. We want both paradise and adventure, as well as to visit somewhere we won’t as easiy be able to once life gets more hectic. We were deciding between Peru and Brazil and, ultimately, Brazil won 🙂
The countdown is ON!!!

Wedding NO’s (For Us)

Another Wednesday, another wedding post! #Sorrynotsorry but I’m loving the wedding planning process. 

Since I’m keeping most of our wedding details a surprise, I figured I’d let you in on a few things you will NOT be seeing in our wedding photos:
 
“The First Look”

Tim and I are going the traditional route and will not be seeing one another until I walk down the aisle to him. I’ve asked if he wants to do a first look but he’s more opposed to the idea than I am–that was a pleasant surprise. I’m so excited to see the look on his face when he first sees me and to set my eyes on him in his tux for the first time.

 Originally, this was a maybe for decor but it does not really fit with the other decor that we did wind up picking. I’m not sure if my MOH is incorporting it into the wedding shower — we’ll have to wait and see since that decor is a surprise for me, too! 
 
 Blush
 I am currently crushing on blush! I love this spectrum of color. When you tell someone blush you could end up getting several different colors, anything from pink to taupe. For me the happy medium is where true blush is, the warmly glowing color that is so soft and feminine. …
This is a popular and beautiful color scheme. I know many brides, including a family member, who are using/ have used it so I knew we’d use different colors. Plus, I thought our fall wedding calls for darker tones. 

Sneakers
Break convention with your wedding footwear. Converse trainer sneakers (Black and white)
I’m not going to lie — this looks super comfortable but it was never even really a conversation between Tim and I because we knew our wedding would be more on the traditionally elegant side.

Wedding Worries

I’m so excited our dresses have all arrived. It makes it much more real that the wedding is happening soon! And it’s one less thing to worry about! 

Throughout the wedding planning process we’ve had some questions/concerns that continue to pop up…

Will we have as many people as we’ve guaranteed? The biggest issue with this is that Tim’s family is from Michigan and so we’re counting on many of them to make the trip to NJ but we also realize it just might not be feasible for some.

What will our first dance song be? We already know our entrance song, some cocktail hour songs and what our wedding music will be (modern and Spanish) but the first dance song has proven to be a really difficult choice to make. We’ve been torn for a while. The one song we know we will not be choosing is John Legend’s All of Me because I’m pretty sure it’s probably been every other first dance song since it’s been released. 

Should we do platters or a set menu for our rehearsal dinner? We’ll be having a cocktail hour, sit-down menu, and open bar for our wedding so I know our guests will be more than content then. As for the rehearsal, hundreds of dollars can be saved going the platter route. A set menu is more formal but I really want it to be more of a gathering/party than a sit-down dinner so as of now, I’m leaning towards platters. 

…Our honeymoon USED to be a worry but we couldn’t be more excited now that we’ve 100% decided on our final location (will be blogged about as soon as we finish booking)!
