This past Sunday, my mom and little brother helped me surprise my dad with a video I made for him. In it, I asked if he’d walk me down the aisle on my wedding day–it was the sentimental portion of my Father’s Day present to him. I thought, what better time of year to ask him to guide me down the aisle to my husband than Father’s Day?
The video included bits of me speaking and a photo montage. Unbeknownst to them, my brother recorded my parents’ reactions to the video. My mom and dad’s teary reactions, especially my dad’s since he is not a crier, made me–and a few other family members I sent the videos to–cry. I am so lucky to have the family I do. And I am so thankful for technology, which helps keep us close even while we’re hundreds of miles apart. This was one of my most favorite wedding planning memories so far because it was so touching.
The video was played to a song I have loved for a while and that we just might dance to for our Father-Daughter dance. My dad is my hero. So much of who I am today is because of him. I’m lucky to be his daughter and I’m ecstatic he {obviously} said yes!

Such a sweet idea, especially because dads don't really get to partake in the wedding process and can in fact feel like their losing their baby girls.
