It’s hard to believe to believe there are just three –3!!!– (Wedding) Wednesdays between now and our wedding! The madness has ensued.

No, I haven’t posted every single Wedding Wednesday, or many, for that matter. That’s partly because work, wedding planning and living a life take up all my time. But it’s also because I want to keep a lot of it a surprise! What’s the fun in my guests knowing what the decor and such will be?

As for flowers, shoes, etc. I will be saving most, if not all, of that for post-wedding. I didn’t just come here to tease you all, though. Here are some amazing wedding shower photos taken by my best friendt Luana Maria Photography.
Note: she’s also the friend who reminded us we need VISAS to go to Brazil. Just imagine the panic that ensued when we gathered all of our materials Monday afternoon only to be told the Brazilian consulate was closed already. Thankfully, we were able to successfully submit our visa applications yesterday!

#ourlastvacaflingbeforeourrings

Also known as our #engagementmoon. This past weekend Tim and I took a road trip to Nashville. Tim drove through Friday night so we arrived super early and he surprised me with a Dunkin Donuts + sunrise date. Afterwards we drove around downtown and our hotel was amazing enough to allow us to check in at 7:30AM and upgrade us for free to an atrium balcony. 

We spent the rest of Saturday at our hotel for dinner and a boat ride and then we went to the Grand Ole Opry, a must do. We spent the earlier part of Sunday with Tim’s family out in the country and visited his grandparents’ graves. We then went out in Nashville–as in we went to almost every bar and we were constantly blown away by the talent. My personal faves were Tootsies and The Stage. So. Much. Fun!

This weekend was great and just what we needed in the midst of all our wedding planning. It was nice to get away just the two of us and have not a worry in the world. Here’s our trip recap in photos:







Date Night… Every Night

Cheers to the freakin’ weekend! I can’t complain about this week AT ALL, though. This week has consisted of date nights every night… might as well call it Date Week. Either date nights at the gym, at Navy Pier (or across because we ran late) for fireworks, or out to eat and stroll around the beautiful neighborhood we live in. We’ll slow down on going out as often as we have but I think we’re both just really excited and it’s difficult to stay indoors when the weather outdoors is so nice. 

There’s not much photographic evidence of our week. Maybe because we had a photog take our airport photos and are in love/obsessed with those. 

Or maybe because we’re just living life and know this isn’t just a visit that needs to be photographed constantly for us to look back and reminisce on when we’re apart. I think it’s 99% the latter. Speaking of our airport photos though, we’ve received more previews (the ones included in this post) and I am over-the-moon about them. Just look at his smile in these! Heart. Melted. 


And Tim, since you read this, I just want to THANK YOU for making me breakfast and lunch almost every day. I love you!

The Anticipation

In the days leading up to T’s move, the anticipation was building up. At times, however, I still didn’t feel like it was really happening. It all felt too good to be true–too surreal. But on Sunday, I realized it was the real deal. Exactly 1,291 days into Our Story and 207 days since we’d last seen each other, our long distance days would come to an end. I was excited, nervous, overjoyed, and anxious. I wanted the time to come already. I tried napping but couldn’t so I started getting ready early. 
On the way to the airport, I looked out the window and my thoughts immediately went back to the beginning to a drive we took as T was dropping me at the bus station in Virginia. How we’d come full circle. The excitement and nervousness was building up. 
Our photographer, Amber of Endlessly Photography, explained what happened at the airport perfectly:

“Last night, just after midnight, I captured my very first Welcome Them Home military homecoming at Chicago O’Hare International Airport. I had been waiting to do one of these sessions for quite a few months, so I was very excited to get the request. I am happy to say everything went wonderfully and it was a surreal, incredible experience.


While Jacqueline and I waited for Tim’s plane to arrive, we stood near the escalators and chatted away. It was interesting to see how many characters and how “alive” the airport still was, even after midnight. Many travelers stopped to congratulate her or inquire as to what we were even doing, and we even had a small crowd form behind us to wait with us. Once he finally made his way down the escalator… it was magic.


The crowd (and people passing by) clapped and cheered, the happy couple embraced, and it was a moment I will never EVER forget. As we collected their bags and made our way to their taxi, people stopped and welcomed Tim home – thanking him for his service and shaking his hand.”

For now Amber has only shown previews of photos of me waiting, cleverly leaving us in anticipation of the photos of his arrival. I can’t put into words how I truly felt–and still feel knowing there won’t be anymore long-term distance but I will say it feels amazing. 

Wedding NO’s (For Us)

Another Wednesday, another wedding post! #Sorrynotsorry but I’m loving the wedding planning process. 

Since I’m keeping most of our wedding details a surprise, I figured I’d let you in on a few things you will NOT be seeing in our wedding photos:
 
“The First Look”

Tim and I are going the traditional route and will not be seeing one another until I walk down the aisle to him. I’ve asked if he wants to do a first look but he’s more opposed to the idea than I am–that was a pleasant surprise. I’m so excited to see the look on his face when he first sees me and to set my eyes on him in his tux for the first time. 
 
Burlap

 Originally, this was a maybe for decor but it does not really fit with the other decor that we did wind up picking. I’m not sure if my MOH is incorporting it into the wedding shower — we’ll have to wait and see since that decor is a surprise for me, too! 
 
 Blush
 I am currently crushing on blush! I love this spectrum of color. When you tell someone blush you could end up getting several different colors, anything from pink to taupe. For me the happy medium is where true blush is, the warmly glowing color that is so soft and feminine. …
This is a popular and beautiful color scheme. I know many brides, including a family member, who are using/ have used it so I knew we’d use different colors. Plus, I thought our fall wedding calls for darker tones. 

Sneakers
Break convention with your wedding footwear. Converse trainer sneakers (Black and white)
I’m not going to lie — this looks super comfortable but it was never even really a conversation between Tim and I because we knew our wedding would be more on the traditionally elegant side.
