Happy Dance

Today is Friday and for that I am ecstatic. Add in official EOS and move dates for the fiancé and a BBQ festival including an Eli Young Band concert this weekend and I am one happy-go-lucky little ducky.

I’ll be keeping the date a surprise on social media because it’s the 4th date I’ve gotten so it could always change. I’m trying not to get too excited but it’s obviously difficult not to. 3 years ago we were in the midst of adjusting to the idea of spending the next few years 5,000 miles apart.

We sometimes discuss that time and whether we’d change anything and neither of thinks we would. Tim’s PCS to Hawaii was a blessing in disguise. We’ve got to live and visit places people vacation. I was able to focus on law school and jump right into my dream career as Tim was able to move up in his rank and prepare for his EOS.

I’m lucky to be with someone who’s so supportive and loving. Who’s been with me every step of the way during our life together. Who’s often thought of me before himself. Who tags me in photos on Instagram like this one, which speaks volumes to how he views me, treats me, and loves me:

Long distance isn’t impossible but it can’t go on forever, either. Luckily, for us, the time is approaching to happily bid farewell to that chapter of Our Story. Life’s been such an adventure together and I’m looking forward to continuing that adventure sans the distance.

NY Girls Chitown Weekend

Two of my childhood best friends and bridesmaids flew in from NYC to visit me this past weekend. Said visit commenced late Friday night with girl chat and fro yo (and Baked by Melissa cupcakes not pictured) .

On Saturday, we did the touristy things, I.e. The Bean and Willis Tower.

We even saw a bride taking photos during out taxi ride back to my neighborhood.

The visit was full of unhealthy foods. I’m talking deep dish pizza… Followed by this from Eataly’s Nutella bar a few hours later. #NOMNOMNOM

On Sunday, we did what weekenders do — brunch. It’s my fave weekend meal and I loved my company 🙂

And then we did some more shopping, which ended with them helping me pick out a dress and necklace for my and Tim’s couple shower (I’ll blog about that someday)! We decided that they’re pretty much my bridal fashion consultants.

This was such a fun weekend. I’m so glad we got some much-needed girl time and I’m already excited to see them next!

It’s that time of the week again — Wedding Wednesday 🙂

Since I love all of our photos, the decision of which photo to choose was difficult but I finally chose that one, which is a favorite of ours and among family and friends. Spendfree(ish) Season(s)

This has been my motto for a while now:

Couple regular life expenses, i.e. bills, with wedding planning and I have decided to stick to the motto even more now than ever before. I vowed after Christmas season to seriously cut back on spending. I am proud to report I have successfully done so. Besides the occasional taxi from a night out or snack I’m craving, unless it’s pretty necessary, I have not bought it. I’ve actually had clothing in my shopping cart (with other purchases for my home) and told the cashier I’d changed my mind because I decided I didn’t need the clothes. You see, I am a firm believer in quality over quantity. Sure, I do have a lot of clothing but I could probably have more. The clothes I do buy though are clothes I know will last me a while (though I am still a fan of F21, which usually isn’t the highest quality). Same goes for shoes and especially purses, which are my biggest splurge. The last anything I’ve bought for myself personally was in November when I bought my Kate Spade purse and my outfits for our engagement photos. I think this is the longest I’ve gone and I am now sort of in a competition –albeit with myself haha– to see how long I can last. . . . As for buying for others, that’s a whole other story. I couldn’t help but buy Tim Valentine’s Day presents. And I can’t help but buy my family and bridesmaids presents, either.
