Our Days are Bananas
Why I Write
Sure, photos capture moments and memories. But words capture feelings in a way that photos can’t.
I want my boys to know how much I thought of them and loved them and have no doubt they’re my world. They’ll be able to tell that from the way I treat them, and from my smile and look in my eyes in photos of us together.
And so I share my writing on this little corner of the internet…that will hopefully survive the test of time and not be lost, like, say, a journal could be.
Thank you for reading my writing.
Our Christmas Card – 2018
When it comes to Christmastime, some of my favorite activities are getting Christmas cards photos taken and ordering our Christmas card. I’m not even kidding when I say I have been designing (choosing a layout and which photos to include) our cards for a month. Lo and behold, I chose the original design I liked, Basic Invite’s Country Club Christmas.
We used Basic Invite to create our card again this year because we’ve used it for so many other special occasions — our 2017 Christmas card, our Save the Date and First Married Christmas cards. I’m happy to have used them again this special holiday season.
I just started mailing our cards over the weekend so I am hoping everyone receives theirs by Christmas!
Some of Basic Invite’s unique features are:
- Almost Unlimited Colors – Customers have almost unlimited color options with instant previews online. Once you select a design you can change the color of each element on the card to over 180 different color options so you can make sure the card is exactly how you want it down to the littlest detail.
- Over 40 Different Colors of Envelopes – You can choose from over 40 different colors when it comes to their envelopes. A big bonus is that all of their envelopes are peel and seal so no licking required!
- Address Capturing Service – Basic Invite offers an address capturing service that allows customers to simply share a link on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or any other form of social media to request their friends and family’s addresses.

Our Michigan Visit — Fall 2018
Happy Monday. We’re battling colds, potty training and daylight savings time adjustments. We just recently got back from visiting my husband’s family in Michigan and let me tell you — 6AM flights with two babies is not for the faint of heart. We were all SO tired when we got back on Saturday and pretty much slept on and off the whole day.
We stayed in Michigan for a week— the longest I’ve gone for and which was a good amount of time to visit family, do some sightseeing and not feel rushed. We got to celebrate our niece’s birthday, see the foliage at its peak, visit Bronner’s (largest Christmas store in U.S.), celebrate my husband’s Halloween birthday, get Culver’s (their cheese curds are so yum!), visit Ann Arbor a couple of times ANd get Christmas photos taken by my talented sister-in-law Ashley Bellis Photography (just wait til you see them!).
As for the foliage I mentioned, here is photographic proof of just how beautiful it was:
